Our theme today was living interculturally and we began with a beautiful prayer when first of all we were all asked to remove our shoes because we were walking on holy ground. With barefoot open hearts we listened to the words of the prophet Isaiah 43:18-20.

My prayer this morning took me back to the opening prayer of the conference which reminded us that as women religious we are called to go out to the whole world because like the women before the empty tomb we are called to give hope to the world.

I wish all of you could be here to celebrate this wonderful experience of being part of the universal church. We are about 900 Leaders from many countries and cultures and speak in many languages but in the Risen Lord we are one body, one church.

Greetings again from a sunny but cold and windy Rome. I have just come back from Mass at the local church. There are five to choose from on a Sunday as there seems to be no shortage of priests. Sr Brenda, a Sister of Nazareth, just arrived and I am waiting to meet up with some of the others.

Sister Maureen is currently in Rome, Italy attending the XXI Plenary of the International Union of Superiors General which will be held for 6 – 10 May. The theme is "Sowers of Prophetic Hope". Around 850 Superiors General from 80 different countries will participate.

Margaret Henry was born on 15th June 1926, the eldest of six children of James and Elizabeth Henry in Doncaster. She is survived by her two brothers, Martin and Peter and by her three sisters Anne, Eileen and Sheila.
