There are many online resources that provide information about organisations that work to promote social justice and peace issues. Among them are:
Amnesty International is a world wide organisation that advocates for human rights and justice for all. This site is for the U.K. but provides links to other Amnesty groups throughout the world. It has a wealth of information and educational material available through its various pages and links.
This is a U.S. based group which provides education about hunger issues throughout the world and strategies for advocacy work to educate politicians about the reality of world hunger. It provides information and links to other organisations throughout the world who are working to alleviate world hunger. The webpage is also available in Spanish.
3. CAFOD
CAFOD is the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales and is part of Caritas International. The website provides a wealth of information about their work, Catholic Social Teaching, ideas for prayer services and ways to get people involved.
4. ECPAT - Every Child Protected Against Trafficking
According to their website, "Every Child Protected Against Trafficking (ECPAT UK) is a leading children's rights organisation working to protect children from trafficking and transnational exploitation. We support children everywhere to uphold their rights and to live a life free from abuse and exploitation." They do this by advocacy as well as by various programming aimed to assist young people and train volunteers.
This is a U.S. based Franciscan group which promotes awareness and advocacy about a number of current issues (e.g. climate change, human trafficking, immigration and peacemaking). It also provides links to other Franciscan organisations.
This is a non- governmental organization at the United Nations which advocates for the poor.
7. MEDAILLE
"The Medaille Trust was founded in 2006 by a number of religious congregations in response to the plight of thousands of people who are being trafficked into the UK each year… A major part of the Trust's work is to raise awareness of the plight of those who are enslaved and exploited in the trafficking industry, and campaign on their behalf." ( mission statement) The website provides a number of resources that can be used to educate people about this issue.
8. PACE (Parents Against Child Sexual Exploitation)
This UK organization works to promote awareness of what child sexual exploitation is, support for parents and training for professionals.
9. RENATE (Religious in Europe Networking Against Trafficking and Exploitation)
This is a group of women religious representing several different religious Congregations working against human trafficking in Europe. It was founded in 2009.
10. TRAC (Trafficking Raising Awareness and Campaigning)
This website provides information on human trafficking and how to stop it. It also provides educational material which can be downloaded and links to videos about the topic.
